Amador and Teofila

The OchoasAmador and Teofila, husband and wife, live in Sector 3, Group 17, in Villa el Salvador. They are one of Adopt-a-Grandparent's success stories!

Teofila is always smiling; she is one of the many who get up before dinner to thank the Lord for all she has. Amador has had many physical problems, but he was recently able to get up and dance a little bit, so his health is improved.

Amador at their homeIn early 2004, Amador and Teofila's home had no roof. One section of their home, where the kitchen is located, was protected from the fog and rain only by a plastic sheet. The other room was open to the elements, as you can see in the photo to the right. Their daughter was not only ignoring their plight, but she was actively working to make their life more miserable.

Thanks to donations to Adopt-a-Grandparent, however, enough funding was made available to purchase roofing materials and truly make their home a shelter once again. Amador and Teofila's neighbors in Villa el Salvador provided the labor (that's what neighbors do in Villa el Salvador). What's more, enough money was raised for two additional homes to have their roofs repaired.

Amador at their homeNow, Amador and Teofila have a new roof. You can see from Amador's face in the picture to the left that he is clearly pleased to have received assistance from Adopt-a-Grandparent's generous donors!

Slowly but continuously, we are getting the seniors better living conditions which keeps them healthier, both mentally and physically.
